"Saving seamen the old fashioned way."
Anna has worked for Admiralty Advocates in various capacities starting in 2015 as a file clerk, then advancing to paralegal, office manager, and senior paralegal. Originally from Los Angeles, Anna grew up on the island of Oahu and lived across the U.S. as an adult with her two children as a former military spouse, while Anna and her two children now call Oahu home. She earned her Associate in Arts from Fayetteville Technical Community College, Bachelor in Arts from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and Juris Doctor from the University of HawaiÊ»i William S. Richardson School of Law. Before beginning her career in the legal field, Anna worked in various managerial positions at a boutique, cafe, and national pizza chain. Starting law school at 29 with two kids gave Anna a unique experience, and she took full advantage of the opportunity, entering Richardson Law as an Ulu Lehua Scholar, chosen as a Torts and Civil Procedure I & II teaching assistant in her 2L year, earning a Cali award for the highest grade in a course taught by the Hon. Gustavo A Gelpí (First Cir. Ct. of Appeals), and was a competing member of the Richardson Native American Moot Court Team as a 3L, traveling to Oklahoma for the NNALSA Competition. She earned various law school scholarships for multiple semesters including the Carl Mirikitani Memorial Fund Scholarship, American Indian Graduate Center Special Higher Education Scholarship, and the Schofield Barracks Hui Ê»O Na Wahine Military Spouse Scholarship. Throughout law school, Anna worked for Admiralty Advocates for 2 out of her 3 years of full time law school, taking a break to clerk and extern for a mid-size firm, spending her time on wrongful death plaintiff suits, slip and fall cases, and insurance defense. During law school, Anna was an Environmental Law Program Research Associate and a published independent researcher for a paper titled "US State and Territorial Indigenous Consultation Laws." Out of all of the above, Anna is most proud to be a full time mom to her two children. She credits them for their patience and inspiration that gave her the strength and determination to accomplish all she has.
